7 聖靈有話說：你們今日若聽他的話， 8 就不可硬著心，像在曠野惹他發怒、試探他的時候一樣。 9 在那裏，你們的祖宗試我探我，並且觀看我的作為有四十年之久。 10 所以，我厭煩那世代的人，說：他們心裏常常迷糊，竟不曉得我的作為！ 11 我就在怒中起誓說：他們斷不可進入我的安息。 12 弟兄們，你們要謹慎，免得你們中間或有人存著不信的惡心，把永生 神離棄了。 13 總要趁著還有今日，天天彼此相勸，免得你們中間有人被罪迷惑，心裏就剛硬了。 14 我們若將起初確實的信心堅持到底，就在基督裏有分了。 15 經上說：「你們今日若聽他的話，就不可硬著心，像惹他發怒的日子一樣。」 16 那時，聽見他話惹他發怒的是誰呢？豈不是跟著摩西從埃及出來的眾人嗎？ 17 神四十年之久，又厭煩誰呢？豈不是那些犯罪、屍首倒在曠野的人嗎？ 18 又向誰起誓，不容他們進入他的安息呢？豈不是向那些不信從的人嗎？ 19 這樣看來，他們不能進入安息是因為不信的緣故了。
7 Wherefore (as the Holy Ghost saith, To day if ye will hear his voice, 8 Harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, in the day of temptation in the wilderness: 9 When your fathers tempted me, proved me, and saw my works forty years. 10 Wherefore I was grieved with that generation, and said, They do alway err in their heart; and they have not known my ways. 11 So I sware in my wrath, They shall not enter into my rest.) If they shall enter 12 Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God. 13 But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin. 14 For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end; 15 While it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation. 16 For some, when they had heard, did provoke: howbeit not all that came out of Egypt by Moses. 17 But with whom was he grieved forty years? was it not with them that had sinned, whose carcases fell in the wilderness? 18 And to whom sware he that they should not enter into his rest, but to them that believed not? 19 So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief.
其實他們只須回顧上帝過去的拯救，信心就可得堅固。
